Vintage Japanese Grey/Black/Gold Silk Kyoto Festival Furisode/Wedding Kimono S/M

  
This is a wonderful, genuine Japanese, furisode/wedding kimono/robe/coat in excellent used condition. Great to wear as traditional costume, as a unique and glamorous robe or coat, as a wedding gown, or for display/interior decor. The fabric is a smooth silver grey silk with fabulous patterns of ribbons, Kyoto festival floats, peonies and cherry blossoms. The colours in the designs include black, pink, blue, lilac and lots of fine gold painted details. The lining is ivory fabric with an orange border. The kimono is in excellent used condition, no noticeable marks or flaws. This furisode would be perfect as traditional dress, as a unique robe or coat, or to hang on a wall for display. Could also be used for anime/manga/cosplay, for textile crafts, or as an unusual and striking wedding gown. Traditional kimono styling, with square shaped, very long sleeves and a wrap front, which makes the fit very adaptable. Furisode is a wedding kimono, it is characterised by very long sleeves.

Long sleeves are considered to be sexy in Japan, and are worn by unmarried girls. This is the most formal type of kimono in use today.

As they can cost many hundreds of pounds, most girls cant afford to own one and so they are usually hired for special occasions. In my opinion this would best fit a UK ladies' size S/M (UK 8-12). Kimono are adaptable in size due to the overlapping front.

This kimono would have been be worn with an obi sash. I have several obi for sale in separate listings, and others available on request. Could also be worn with a wide belt, cord, or sash, depending on your requirements.

The length would normally be adjusted by folding over at the waist and securing with a cord hidden under the obi. Sleeve-sleeve 1 26cm 49.6.... Shoulder to shoulder 6 1cm 24.... Sleeve length 1 04cm 41. Please check carefully and make your choice.

Please note furisode are rare, expensive and sought after. Some sellers describe less expensive types of kimono as furisode when in fact they are houmongi, tsukesage or komon. If the sleeves are less than 85cm long they are NOT furisode. Smoke and pet free home.
